(WALLA WALLA, Wash.)—The Visit Walla Walla executive committee today announced that it has accepted the resignation of Executive Director Ron Peck, who is leaving to pursue other career opportunities after serving three years at the helm of the regional destination marketing organization.
“We could not be more proud of the unprecedented growth that Walla Walla tourism has experienced during Ron’s tenure as executive director,” said Zachary Fraser, president of the Visit Walla Walla Board of Directors. “Ron’s leadership skills and collaborative approach have been tremendous assets, and we wish him the very best of luck as he moves onto the next chapter of his career.”
Peck joined Visit Walla Walla on March 18, 2013, and has accepted the director of tourism development position with the Port of Seattle. His last day with Visit Walla Walla will be April 15, and the Executive Committee will oversee day-to-day operations of the organization while a long-term solution is developed. Current Visit Walla Walla staff will continue with their current roles and responsibilities, including executing the established 2016 sales and marketing plan.
“We have a sound strategic plan in place and a strong team of individuals remaining with the organization,” said Fraser. “We remain profoundly optimistic about the long-term vision for Visit Walla Walla, and the future of tourism in Walla Walla.”
