Entwined

This collaborative sculpture emulates the rolling landscape of the Walla Walla Valley with woven twine of varying width and texture. Twine dangling at top and bottom represent an onion’s roots and shoots. Entwined sits on the northwest corner of Spokane and Main.

The Artists

Meghan Urback, Mia Huth, & Elsbeth Otto

Entwined's artists are each in their junior year at Whitman College. Meghan and Mia are Studio Art Majors, and Elsbeth is majoring in Environmental Studies/Humanities. Mia likes caramelized onions on top of most anything. Elsbeth enjoys sauteing onions late at night. Meghan loves using onions to embellish pasta sauces.

The artists intend Entwined's woven rope work to weather and change with the seasons, just as our beautiful landscape does. Both this sculpture and our valley offer a new experience each time you visit throughout the year.
